FTOOL Overview

FTOOL is a program that is aimed at teaching the structural behavior of plane frames, occupying an area little explored by educational programs, which are more concerned with the teaching of numerical analysis techniques, or educational versions of commercial programs, more concerned with introduce students to their interfaces. Its basic objective is to motivate the student to learn the structural behavior. The teaching experience in this area has shown that the learning process of structural analysis methods is not effective without the knowledge of the structural behavior. It is very difficult to motivate the student to learn standard theory analysis methods without understanding how the model being analyzed behaves in practice. The learning process of the analytical methods improve enough if the student could learn about both structural behavior.
